I've got about 10 books at home that I'm trying to read but can't seem to concentrate. Then on Friday John Sandford's new book, Buried Prey, came in. I read it in 2 days. The main character in the Prey series, Lucas Davenport finds himself reliving his mistakes from his first case when the bodies of two young girls are discovered. As is usual in the Prey novels the killer has a voice through out, making the real challenge figuring out the killer's relationship to Davenport. Not many people would categorize any of the Prey novels as fun but I enjoyed seeing how close John Sandford's vision of Lucas Davenport's early life compared to the version I had in my mind.
One of the enjoyable things about reading series novels is that over time you start to feel that you know the main character and can predict his reaction to situations. If the author is really good he can still add enough twist and turns to keep you from guessing the ending. John Sandford is one of those authors.
Do any of you read my favorite authors? Here are a few of my favorite characters, can you give me the authors names?
Dave Robicheaux
Alex Delaware
Harry Bosch
Jack Reacher
